Route for The Croudace Homes Festival 5K
This is a great town based route giving you a flavour of all the different parts of Basingstoke’s town centre starting and finishing in the buzz of Festival Square. Remember this is an urban route and consequently there are lots of trip hazards, changes of surface, kerbs and street furniture to avoid.
We will do our best to warn you of everything, but you still need to take care and listen out for instructions from marshals especially when crossing roads – you won’t get a PB if you get yourself run over!

1kmThe first kilometre is around the Top of the Town, Up Wote Street, around the Market Square then down the hill in Church Street, over the footbridge (NO OVERTAKING ZONE) past the back of Marks and Spencer before turning left into Glebe Gardens.
Exit Glebe Gardens through the underpass under the Victory roundabout (NO OVERTAKING ZONE) then up the steep and narrow ramp on to Alençon Way, go around the side of The Anvil, and then pass in front of the Malls shopping centre (opposite the station).
Continue along Alencon Way until you go into the underpass into Eastrop roundabout.
Bear to the left to exit the Eastrop roundabout by the underpass, coming out in front of Waitrose, follow the path right up the slope and follow Basing View to cross the road and come back on yourself along the front of Waitrose.
Then turn right up the hill along the side of the store. Cross the access road to the Waitrose’s car park and continue along Basing View, right up to the roundabout just after the Village Hotel.
Follow the path right around the corner on Basing View and keep going until the crossing point when you turn to come back along the other side of the road then turn right to take the footbridge over Churchill Way (NO OVERTAKING ZONE).
The path swings round to descend into Eastrop Park, follow the path through the avenue of trees, over the bridge to turn right.
The last kilometre takes you straight back through the park, and into Festival Square with the finish line right near where you started. Congratulations you made it!
