Route for The Croudace Homes Festival 5K
This is a great town based route giving you a flavour of all the different parts of Basingstoke’s town centre, with the unique opportunity to run through the shopping centre without getting stopped by security! It starts and finishes in the buzz of Festival Square. Remember this is an urban route and consequently there are lots of trip hazards, changes of surface, kerbs and street furniture to avoid.
We will do our best to warn you of everything, but you still need to take care and listen out for instructions from marshals especially when crossing roads – you won’t get a PB if you get yourself run over!

1km
The first kilometre takes you through the heart of Festival Place, a real unique aspect to this race – a chance to run through the shopping centre before the shops open! You then emerge on Church Street, up the hill and around the Market Square before descending down Wote Street and back near the start.
2km
Back crossing the start line again before heading out past the amphitheatre, then turning left heading towards Waitrose. You cross the road and follow the side of Waitrose up the hill, crossing the car park access road and heading on to Basing View.
3km
A long straight run along the top of Basing View before descending to the roundabout and bearing right. Cross Basing View, before turning left back down towards the fountains.
4km
Cross from the fountains into Eastrop Park, keeping to the left as faster runners will be returning in the opposite direction. Bear left to go around the boating lake and take the path through the avenue of trees towards the wooden footbridge, then turn right and head back towards Festival Place.
5km
The last kilometre takes you straight back through the park, and into Festival Square with the finish line right near where you started. Congratulations you made it!
This course has been accurately measured as 5k by the UKA.
Parking and toilets are in Festival Place – please do not arrive before your allocated arrival time and arrive ready to race!
