Entertaining the kids doesn’t need to cost a penny! Fill a day in Basingstoke with feeding ducks, playing in adventure play areas, flying kites, paddling in Eastrop pool and taking in the Town Trail from the Willis Museum.
INDOOR ACTION DAY
This is a high energy itinerary to enjoy whatever the weather, focussing on Basingstoke’s convenient leisure park it includes skydiving, skiing, swimming and an afternoon of indoor karting, all within easy reach.
OUTDOOR ACTION DAY
This is a day to taste a wide variety of outdoor activities as well as getting a bird’s eye view of the area. Start with a taster glider session at Lasham Gliding Club, afternoon cycling starting and finishing at Overton Railway Station and a balloon ride with Adventure Balloons.
WET WEATHER FAMILY FUN
Based around Basingstoke’s Leisure Park, start with a trip to Milestones, Hampshire’s Living History Museum for a walk through time and snack in the cafe.
It’s a short walk to the Aquadrome for a splashing time on the flumes before lunch at Little Frankies. Then finish this exciting day with an afternoon of skating at Planet Ice.
COUNTRYSIDE & VILLAGES
Basingstoke is surrounded by stunning countryside, this itinerary will help you explore some of the hidden natural gems from the open hills of Watership Down to the historic Whitchurch Silk Mill and the intimate streets of Overton, with dinner at one of the many eateries the village has to offer.
Explore Basingstoke’s rich history that reaches from the Doomesday Book to modern industrial heritage. Take in the Vyne, the Holy Ghost Church, Silchester’s Roman Walls and Old Basing House before finishing with dinner at Barton’s Mill.
FOOD & DRINK DISCOVERY
Combine eating and drinking with food shopping in this mouth watering itinerary. Start with breakfast at Newlyns, followed by a visit to the Andwell Brewery before coffee at the Bus Stop Cafe at Manydown Farm, then wine shopping at Berry Bros. & Rudd, and lunch at the Parlour Tea Rooms. In the afternoon visit Laverstoke Mill the home of the Bombay Sapphire distillery before finishing the day with dinner at the Michelin starred Wellington Arms in Burghclere.
Start your weekend with a hearty breakfast at the Amercian diner to fuel you for a stunning walk across Watership Down, stop off for lunch after at the Vine in Hannington before an afternoon at Laverstoke Mill the home of Bombay Sapphire, then head back to town for dinner and to catch a show at the Haymarket, the Anvil or Proteus Creation Space.
On Sunday start with some gentle shopping in Festival Place and lunch at Festival Street Kitchen before a trip to Basing House and the Vyne finishing the weekend with dinner at the Swan in Sherborne St John.
