St Michael’s Hospice

St Michael’s Hospice is the headline local charity for the Basingstoke Half Marathon.

St. Michael’s Hospice  based in Basingstoke, cares for patients throughout North Hampshire who are affected by life-limiting illness.  This care is provided both within the Hospice and out in the community in patients homes through their Hospice at Home service.  All the Hospice services are geared to helping people live life to the fullest and ensure that their quality of life is the best that it can be.  It costs £3.3 million a year to run the Hospice with just 20% coming from the Primary Care Trust, the other £2.7million has to be raised by fundraising and retail activities. St. Michael’s is a registered charity (number 1002856), and all its services are provided completely free of charge. Macmillan Half Marathon Runner

Macmillan Cancer Support

Team Macmillan is proud to be the National Headline Charity for the Basingstoke Half Marathon 2017.

Every day in Hampshire a staggering 27 people in the area hear the devastating news they have cancer, and 13 people die from the illness. In Hampshire there are 121 Macmillan professionals working in clinical environments and the community. They provide vital support, coordinate care, relieve symptoms and help people cope with the practical and emotional effects of cancer.

No one should have to face cancer alone. And with your support no one will.

Naomi House & Jacksplace

Naomi House & Jacksplace hospices provide expert hospice care to more than 340 life-limited and life threatened children, young people and their extended families from Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Berkshire, West Sussex, Surrey and Isle of Wight. This support is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Victoria’s Promise have partnered with Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital to provide care and therapies to young women facing cancer. We aim to alleviate any concerns these women may encounter during treatment, by providing vital support in areas such as specialist skin care, chemotherapy beauticians, oncology massage, dietetic support, wig funding and counselling services.

Sebastian Action Trust

Sebastian’s Action Trust

Sebastian’s Action Trust is a registered charity providing holidays and practical support to seriously-ill children and their families.

We are asking runners to pay for their entry fee of £20 and to try and raise a minimum sponsorship of £100.  We will supply running shirts, goodie bags and a buffet at The Bluebells afterwards.

The Pink Place

The Pink Place is a local breast cancer charity that aims to assist the well-being of individuals who are currently undergoing treatment or who have recently completed treatment for breast cancer in the Basingstoke and Deane area.

Operating with the support of the Breast Care Unit at the Basingstoke and North Hampshire NHS Foundation Trust, The Pink Place offers a range of services free of charge including complementary therapies, nutrition advice, hair services and advice (before, during and after chemotherapy), beauty services and advice (nail and skin care) and very importantly counselling support.  With over 200 women diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the Basingstoke area, this is a service which is very much needed.

The Basingstoke & Alton Cardiac Rehabilitation Centre

Basingstoke & Alton Cardiac Rehabilitation Centre treats patients recovering from heart attacks or heart surgery  – to help them to return to normal as quickly as possible and then to reduce to a minimum the chance of future heart problems. We use a combination of supervised exercise, education, stress management and relaxation and we currently treat about 500 new patients each year. Pelican Cancer Foundation

Pelican Cancer Foundation is a local charity based at Basingstoke Hospital. We are committed to driving innovation in precision surgery for bowel cancer (colorectal), bladder cancer, prostate cancer and liver cancer treatment through research and training. We work with the cancer specialists who treat you: nurses, radiologists, oncologists, surgeons, gastroenterologists and pathologists – advancing new treatment pathways. Two studies supported by the charity won eminent international recognition at the BMJ Awards held in May for their outstanding work to improve patient care for bowel cancer patients in the UK.
