At Destination Basingstoke we believe that this is a great place to live, work, visit and do business but we don't expect you to take our word for it. Our ambassadors are a group of influential individuals who are well known in their own field - whether it be business, sport, academia or healthcare, and they are all proud to be associated with Basingstoke. The Ambassadors meet on an occasional basis and in the meantime are proud to promote the town through whatever platforms their professional life may offer. Our ambassadors are sometimes called upon to be specialist spokes people for relevant subjects and are respected for their view and influence.
Graeme Hobbs, Chairman, Motorola Solutions
“I am pleased to add my voice as an ambassador for Basingstoke. Motorola Solutions’ decision to invest in the town has been long term and we are proud to say continues after more than 30 years. That alone speaks volumes about Basingstoke, its location, the infrastructure and the amenities that support our business and in particular our people. It is a town that continues to invest and reinvent itself, and that helps us continue to operate and flourish as the headquarters of a technology business with wide influence throughout Europe and Africa”.
Andrew Finney, Chairman HCR and Chairman of Anvil Arts and Hampshire Chamber
“Basingstoke road names such as Pack Lane and Roman Road show how we have been at the heart of transport links for centuries. That makes Basingstoke a great place to set up business, home or find employment all set in the stunning Hampshire countryside”
Thom Thorp, Senior Director Corporate Affairs and Market Access, Lilly UK
“I am enormously proud to be a Basingstoke Ambassador. Basingstoke is a vibrant and growing town which has found the balance between business and family needs.
Basingstoke is a great place for Business to locate. There are excellent transport links, a strong skills base, and supportive local infrastructure. For families, Basingstoke has good schools, excellent health care facilities including a Foundation Trust status Hospital and all of this is on the doorstep of the New Forest and the South Coast.
For all these reasons and many more Basingstoke is the place to be!”
Geoff French, Chairman, Enterprise M3
“As Chair of the Enterprise M3 LEP one of my roles is to be an Ambassador for all of the area covered by the LEP stretching from the M25 to the New Forest and covering most of Hampshire and Surrey.
Our LEP’s Strategic Economic Plan has identified Basingstoke as one of our four ‘Growth Towns,’ the four best performing centres in our area that are key to driving economic growth.
Basingstoke has gained this status by demonstrating that it is very much ‘open for business’ and continuing to bring together leaders from both the public and private sectors to provide the vision, knowledge and strategic leadership needed to drive sustainable growth.”
