Basing View Regeneration
Basing View is an important commercial area in the heart of Basingstoke

Basing View is Basingstoke's premier central office location covering approximately 60 acres of land lying directly east of the town centre and benefitting from excellent communication links with the close proximity of the central bus and railway station as well as Junction 6 of the M3. Close to the town centre and the awarding winning Festival Place shopping centre, Basing View offers approximately 1.3 million square feet of office accommodation and is home to major companies, such as the AA, Thales, Sun Life, Unum Provident, Penningtons Solicitors and Clydesdale Bank.
The council are currently progressing plans to regenerate the area, creating a modern 21st Century business destination which the town and region can be proud of.
www.basingview.co.uk is the new dedicated website for Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s ambitious plans to regenerate the 65-acre Basing View business park in the centre of town.
The website is being launched as the
borough council makes significant investment to prepare the site for major
redevelopment and prepare a comprehensive master plan to outline how the park
can be transformed into a 21st century business
location.
Improving the image and first impression of Basing View is essential and the council are adopting a public realm strategy to help address this. This will guide how to improve the planting, signage, public spaces and street furniture including seating, bins and bus shelters in Basing View to give the area a strong identity and make it more attractive for businesses and visitors.
The council has also drawn up a set of design guidelines to set the standard for how new buildings should be developed in the future. It is also using its position as landlord to push forward the new standards by working with existing owners of buildings to redevelop the area as a vibrant business park.
Cabinet Member for Finance, Property and Performance Cllr. James Lewin said, “Basing View is a massive asset and like any forward-thinking organisation we must manage it well. The town has a good reputation for business and commerce and our plans for Basing View will ensure we can build on this.
“Even during this time of recession it is important that we prepare for economic recovery. It’s more important rather than less to ensure Basing View is attractive to businesses. We mustn’t stand still but embrace change ready to be in the best position to make the most when economic recovery comes.”
