AXA Winterthur Wealth Management are ‘old hands’ at doing business in Basingstoke. This well established company has been located in the town for over two decades, offering customers a range of financial investment products including pensions. AXA Winterthur forms part of the world’s 15th largest company, the AXA Group.

“Basingstoke’s attraction to some of the leading employers in the UK is plain to see, with high levels of employment, excellent infrastructure, and quality schools and colleges.”
Paul Riddell, Head of PR , AXA Winterthur Wealth Management

On The Up & Up

These are exciting times for the company. Following its success and expansion during the last two decades in Basingstoke, the company now employs 800 people. And with room for growth available, it has now opened a new customer service centre which will employ up to 60 additional staff. A recently launched investment business called Architas, based in the city of London, but supported in Basingstoke, specialises in investment services for high net worth individuals, and adds another string to the bow.

The ability to recruit high calibre staff from a local workforce pool has been key to AXA Winterthur’s successful growth, along with Basingstoke’s prime location as something of a communications hub. The ability to travel easily both nationally and internationally is a great benefit to the company, due to the location of parent company offices in London, Bristol and Coventry, and the international part of the business based on the Isle of Man, best reached by air. Amongst AXA’s international offices, Paris is a frequent port of call for business meetings.

This combination of local factors has contributed to AXA Winterthur’s success, which is reflected in a range of awards and accolades. At the Financial Adviser Service Awards, its Winterthur business has been named Company of the Year twice over the last four years, and is also rated as one of Britain’s best employers based on a range of criteria measured by The Guardian newspaper. This is perhaps not surprising, given AXA Winterthur’s progressive attitude: it has its own annual internal awards to recognise outstanding contributions from employees.

The company also offers its expertise to the local community, working with Queen Mary’s College by offering CV-writing workshops, professional advice and work experience to students.

A Transformed Town

In recent years, Basingstoke has undergone something of a transformation, thanks to substantial investment in its amenities, which now present plenty of scope for leisure activities outside of the office. The town has welcomed the addition of one of the country’s best shopping centres, Festival Place, the Anvil, a nationally recognised concert venue, and the Leisure Park, which boasts a swimming pool with flumes, ice rink, 10-pin bowling alley and a 10-screen cinema, amongst other facilities.

With excellent standards of healthcare and education on offer, along with good quality housing and high employment, Basingstoke and the Borough offers a pleasant and secure environment for working and living.
